COLLECT
For Collectors

Buy from artists.
Not from noise.

Every artist here is verified by a human. Every payment is held in escrow until you confirm the work has arrived and is what was promised. Every dispute has a mediator. This is how.

Start with what
moves you.

The gallery is where most collectors begin. Filter by medium, region, price range, career stage. Or let our taste quiz learn what you respond to and start personalizing what you see.

The taste quiz

Seven quick questions. Mediums you gravitate toward, color palettes, dimensions that fit your space, price range, what you already own or admire. Takes two minutes.

The quiz appears on your collector dashboard on first sign-in. You can retake it any time your taste evolves.

The wishlist

Save works you’re watching. If a piece on your wishlist drops in price, sells, or gets featured in an exhibition, we let you know. No spam — one notification per event, opt-out any time.

Your wishlist is private. Artists can’t see who has saved their work.

02
Decide

Everything you need
to know before.

Every artwork page shows you exactly what we know — not less. If we can’t verify something, we say so. If a work has provenance history, you can see it. If the artist has disputes on record, we tell you.

Artist verification

Every artist displays a verified badge. Tap it to see the date they were verified and whether our authentication pipeline has reviewed their recent listings.

Provenance timeline

If this is a secondary-market work (previously owned and relisted for resale), you’ll see the full ownership history: dates, collectors anonymized, and whether prior sales happened on Ateliera or elsewhere. For new works from the artist’s studio, the timeline starts with the artist.

Certificates & documentation

Works that pass our Ateliera Certified pipeline carry a digital certificate documenting their verification. For editions, the certificate specifies which number in the edition you’re buying. Delivered with the artwork.

Market context

Where available, we show comparable sales from the same artist or similar career-stage artists working in the same medium. This is context, not appraisal.

“Due diligence for a four-figure purchase should be as straightforward as due diligence for a car. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.”

03
Buy

Commit.
Quote.
Pay.

Buying happens in three stages. This is different from most marketplaces and it’s intentional — it protects both you and the artist from the surprises that usually come with shipping physical art across borders.

01
Commit

Select the piece. Enter your shipping address. We notify the artist and reserve the work for you — it can’t be sold to anyone else while you’re waiting for a quote.

02
Review quote

Within five business days, the artist sends you a real shipping quote. You see the artwork price, shipping, and estimated customs separately. If the total works for you, approve.

03
Pay

Pay the full amount in one transaction. Funds land in escrow — not with the artist directly — until you’ve confirmed the work arrived as promised.

Payment methods

Credit and debit cards through Stripe. Bank transfers (ACH and SEPA) for larger purchases. Cryptocurrency for select transactions — ask support.

Cards have a higher processing fee than bank transfers. For works over five thousand dollars, we recommend a bank transfer to keep the total cleaner.

Escrow, in plain language

When you pay, your money doesn’t go to the artist. It goes into a holding account managed by our payment processor. The artist doesn’t touch it until one of two things happens: you confirm the piece arrived and is as promised, or seven days pass after the carrier confirms delivery. This is the same mechanism used by Airbnb, eBay at scale, and every reputable high-value marketplace.

04
Receive

Inspect.
Confirm.
Or raise a flag.

When your work arrives, take your time. Unwrap carefully — photograph as you go if you want documentation. Check the piece against the listing. Then decide.

Confirm

If the work is as promised, tap Confirm in your dashboard. Escrow releases to the artist. Your order moves to “Delivered” and the piece enters your collection.

If you do nothing, the order auto-confirms after seven days from delivery — so don’t feel pressured to act immediately.

!
Raise a dispute

If the work is damaged, significantly different from the listing, or you suspect it isn’t authentic — open a dispute within fourteen days. Funds stay in escrow while we mediate.

Mediation typically resolves in 72 hours. Most end in either a partial refund (for minor issues) or full return and refund (for significant ones).

What a dispute process looks like

You submit evidence. Photos of the damage, the packing, the listing side-by-side with the received piece. Whatever’s relevant.

The artist responds. They have 48 hours to present their side and any counter-evidence.

We decide. A member of our team reviews everything and issues a decision. Our decision is final and binding — but we’re transparent about our reasoning so both sides understand.

Settlement. Full refund, partial refund, or release to the artist. If a return is required, shipping costs for the return are covered by whoever the dispute resolution determined was responsible.

05
Beyond the purchase

Resell cleanly.
Or bring an advisor in.

Your relationship with Ateliera doesn’t end at checkout. Two paths stay open as long as you’re a collector.

Secondary market — relist through us

If a work you own through Ateliera stops fitting — a move, a new direction in your collection, anything — you can list it for resale directly from your dashboard. We handle buyer verification, the transaction, and the new delivery. You get paid the same way the artist did originally: through escrow, once the new owner confirms.

The 7% royalty to the original artist is standard on our secondary market — a long-standing principle in the art world that should have been default everywhere years ago.

Advisory — someone to think with

If you want a professional collector to help you build or refine your collection, we maintain a vetted roster of advisors. Request an advisor through a short brief — space, budget, references — and we match you with someone who fits. Free to request; the advisor’s 15% is built into the price of anything you buy through them, not added on top.
